Harrier Import requirements

When I last looked at the idea of importing a harrier from Japan, it turned out that the most recent restrictions and testing requirements made it uneconomical. This was, above all, because no-one had at that point bothered to put one of these through the process. Since that time, I notice that there are now one or two around. I wonder if anyone could enlighten me about recent experience of importing a Harrier and the various hurdles you had to jump?
Thanks

I would have gone for the jumpjet but the fuel price is a little high and they have a tendency to melt the road if you stay put for too long. Wife is not too happy at 9Gs either. No, it's got to be what is known as the Lexus RX300 here, so that they can charge more for it.

Import should be no differnet to any other if it is more than ten years old then no SVA, just need MOT and registering. If it is younger than ten years old as I suspect these will be, then full SVA lots of aggro to do on your own. There are specialist companies that will do it for you for a fee.
Nice car thought about one myself, but they are still expensive when I looked, think Smiffie was after one for Tracey at one time.

The additional complication is that the European standards are more "advanced" than the Japanese standards from '97 on. This means that the car requires an expensive test procedure resulting in a "model report". If someone has already taken the model through the tests, you can rent their model report to get your car through the Extended SVA.
If there is no existing model report the cost of getting a specialist company to put your car through ESVA would be several thousands of pounds, plus the cost of any modifications requied to pass the tests.

I had an RX for a day as a curtesy car.
If I could afford one I would love to own one.
Really classy
