Thanks Piers - really helpful - do we HAVE to register on the GTR site - or could I just approach Marham direct ?

Contact Darin from the Mitsubishi Lancer Register directly and ask, Stuart. <darin@lancerregister.com>
Also, from the details above: "Places are selling fast for this event so in order to guarantee your place we suggest you contact Mechell at the MLR direct on 08451 25 26 23 with your payment: Places can be booked online via the MLR Shop."

Shall I ask over on that thread about SW members, either individual or as a group? (Just done so...)

(I have been waiting to see what the response would be here before finally deciding which day to go on.)

Message back:

Spectators are fine - they just need to let Darin have their details for security before 12th Feb.

Sunday is for all makes of cars - again just send Darin your details via e-mail and or call Mechell direct - see the post above.

So Sunday it is then.

Which is faster up to 130 mph in full normal guise, the TiTis or the VBums?

The V8s - 'cos they're more than just torque

Mongoose - are you coming ?

EDIT: actually - I'll revise that opinion - remembering that this isn't 0-130 but 30-130. Received wisdom is that the V8's torque gives the edge in a standing start, but with both flooring it at 30mph I guess there may not be that edge...

I think that may be down to the driver - not many public road racers are willing to go much over a 100mph on the road - I had a little play with an R8 last week, and I was pulling away from him at about 110, but I am not going to kid myself that my TT is faster than an r8 at that speed. He just had tinier balls, that's all.... and a lot more money than me.

I agree completely, some have definitely bottled it at around 130.
A Ferrari Maranello in France bottled it with 150 showing on my clock and there is no way 'my Soarer' won, the Ferraris driver lost.
Was good fun though

The only difficult bit is holding it where(?) below 30 through the box, and deciding which gear to have it in.

Last year I wasn't watching carefully enough, thinking my needle was showing around 29 but the RaceLogic kit showed I was overeager and doing 31 so one whole run got dumped in the bin.

The system assumes everyone is equal at 30. I think the Soarers will have a good showing every time, not only because they are innately fast, and because of their streamlining, as I mentioned above, but the Chav types with manuals can easily flub things or break things. Chav's and smaller cars may be quicker off the line from zero, but past 30...? Wouldn't mind having a shot at this in the old Aristo...

So, the TT drivers can torque their torque, as Stuart says above, but leave the day to the V8's to worque the worque?

Stuart, have you supplied the advance details for your passenger? See further down this thread:

That's disappointing, Stuart.

Maybe Mongoose would be willing to come as a passenger, even? People can sit in the cars between runs if the wind is chilly, or in the airfield reception lounge. Not wanting to blow the car up, I stayed only for the morning session last year until the weather turned squally around midday, but the event went on all afternoon, I believe.

In an ideal world I would have wanted a large box, or a windbreak and mallet, if only to stop my mats and spare tyre being blown away. Plus a thermos and umbrellas. There was a whistling 40 mph wind last year...

There's a good solid list of entrants building up for this. Two days to go before the advanced security details deadline.

Here's a bit of a nobber spinning his Evo at 183 mph at RAF Marham. (Lifted from another site.) The word is that he had removed the rear spoiler for less drag on this run, and as he lifted off he floated his rear.
