I didn't even split the second one, I just buffed the outside with the PlastX and it looked just as good as the other (actually it looks better). And I buffed the high beam's and turn lights with out removing them from the car....I wish I had done that first... ohh well live and learn.

I use PlastX successfully. I have found also that a light metal polish works well (as suggested to me by Neil). They have to be done every few months though.

I've had these problems with other cars in the past. I found the easiest polishing paste to use was bought from an aquatic shop. It's what they use/sell for polishing acrylic aquariums that have picked up surface marks. It usually comes in a kit with an application cloth, polish and buffing cloth. Nice and cheap as well ACRYLIC POLISH

Once these headlights are polished for the first time, the factory UV protection is removed, and the plastic is now porous and will require polishing/cleaning pretty much every 6 months.

My spanner gave me a bottle (gave....for 20squid) of 'Synpol' which he reckons has a UV proofing similar to that of the factory stuff. It was pretty good, it kep the plastic clear for just over a year before it needed cleaning again. Im still looking for that magical stuff that will work.

Course, to be less ambiguous, Id really need two soarer's, one for control and one for testing.

There. The missus HAS to accept that as a valid reason for buying another JZZ30.

Same problem here with the Aristo covers. Interesting about the factory UV film and makes sense. Might pop down and see what's on offer at Yellow Hat or Autobacs. Actually I might swing by the local Toyota people and see what they say!

Or she might point out that it has two headlights - one test & one control

NON-ACETONE nailpolish remover takes the oxidisation off the fronts quite nicely.
