Hi Guys,
Had a little nightmare which started at 4am when i finished work Friday night!

My V8 had been running perfect upto this point and i had pulled over to take a call for 15 minutes. When i tried ot start the car again i just got a clicking noise and engine wouldn't turn over. The EMV and dash all flickered and decided to die on me.

I managed to flag down and Taxi and and he jump started the motor for £10 (Guess he got to earn a living somehow when noone wanting a lift). Car started fine and i thought that was the problem solved. Managed to get 2miles down the road before the EMV, lights, and dash all went again and the engine cut out. This time i had my window open and couldnt even get enough power from battery to shut it and dump the car until the morning until i was more awake! After an hour of jumping up and down my roadside, managed to get another Taxi driver to jumpstart the battery and get enough power to slowly close the window.

Following day, went down to Halfords and got ripped off to the sum of £125 for a Bosch Silver 76Ah battery. Bolted it on, and car was perfect again. Was driving around all afternoon and to work again that night and everything still perfect! :wow:

Come 2am when i finished work, started car and problems started all over again! This time engine was still running but had: :omgsign:

- Active High light on (was actually in Normaly mode)
- Cat overheating light on
- and the dreded "Charging Fault" flashing up on the dash. :hbang:

Carried on driving car, and completly to surprise after 20mins the extra warnings on the dash went away and even the EMV sprung back into life! :surprise:

Checked battery voltage this morning and is reading 12.6V with engine off and 12.8V when engine idling. Throught looking at the FAQ its seems it should be readin 14V when engine on?? :dknow:

Does anyone have a clue what could be going on under the bonnect as its starting to scare me now as i dont know if im going to make it to my destination or not, as seems to depends on my cars mood!

Will just add, there is some PAS fluid around the pot, but doesn't seem to be leaking bad, and no signs of fluid on the Alternator.

Thank you for talking the time to read through my rather long thread (if you stil awake).

Hi there - an opinion please.
I have 18 inch wheels on my Active 32, which I am not entirely convinced about. I don't really like thin tyres, and I am thinking of perhaps going down to 17 inch as a compromise between good handling and everyday driving with perhaps less road noise.
Has anyone tried a fatter tyre for the rear, wider, say 16 inch and a thinner 18 inch wheel for the front, like a Lambo? Any idea how it would handle?
Just thoughts at the moment..

I am trying to change my cam belt, but I am having a problem locking the crank so that I can remove the bolt on the end of it. I have heard that there is a special tool for this (as in this post http://www.soarerworld.com/forum/sho...ht=timing+belt)
Does anyone know where I can get one (or even borrow one?)

I think it is a vast improvement and looks like a soarer should. Just got to replace just about every bush attatched to the engine and gearbox now!!

Toying with the idea of keeping the Soarer... :veryhappy

If I do I'll be wanting to chase more power in the somewhat near future which means thinking about the turbos. In fact, I'm already thinking of them - I actually have a lovely exhaust system sitting right next to me that I'm unable to fit due to the fear of it finishing off the seals on my 18 year old turbos.

So I'm thinking about getting the CT12As played about with a bit, but I really have no idea where to go, what to expect and how much to pay.

CR Turbos seems to be recommended, how much do they tend to charge and what sort of power has been achieved on their hybirds?

I know that it'd make more sense in the long run to go single, but right now all I want is a responsive, reliable turbo setup. I'm not interested in chasing XXX amount of BHP, so all of the willy waving of a single doesn't interest me too much.

Thoughts?

Continuing with my slow garage clearout (I'm a horder) I want to sell this suspention set.

I have had it for about 4 years, sat in the garage (my car has been off the road for 3 and I was waiting to put them on). I got them from a member on the MKIV site called Psimon I think.

They are the OEM topmount set, so no pillow balls.

Height adjustable as well as the 16 setting on stiffness. Kit comes with 2 Tein adjustment spanners, and the hardness adjustment spanner and instructions on how to fit them.

They are assembled but you will need to set them up to your car, as it is easier when they are fitted. One of the mounts has had the bolt cut shorter that fixes the top mount to the car, it is shown in a picture. No idea why this was done, and it doesnt affect the top mount in any way.

I'm after £550 for them plus delivery.

(Bear in mind they are heavy so you may prefer to pick up. I'm in North London by the M25 and am happy to drive a bit if the petrol is covered.)

See photos, if you want any further photos let me know with an email address and I will take them and send them.

I'm in a bit of a quandry. Does anyone know if the 92 TT Soarer is supposed to have front side amber park lights that come on when the light selector is set to the 1st increment? I have the side lights but they seem to be wired to operate as turn signal indicators separate from the headlight units. Anyone know what wiring circuit/wire I may be able to slice into to get these to work as parking lights? The local licensing inspections are requiring this little item! :thumbd:
